Public School District Lighting Energy Savings
Belmar School District
1101 Main St
Belmar, NJ
Project Description
GreenLight worked with the Belmar School District to enable them to reach their sustainability goals and improve their financial position. The Belmar School District operates in a historic building constructed in 1909. There are more than 500 students and 60 full-time staff that depend on a properly operating facility to achieve their educational goals.
GreenLight replaced the existing T12 fluorescent fixtures in the classrooms, hallways, and offices with advanced LED lighting. The new lamps used significantly less electricity and helped improve the quality of the work environment with bright and attractive lighting. GreenLight secured 100% financing for the project from the NJ Smart Start Program and the resultant energy savings enabled the Belmar Elementary School to be the oldest building in the state of New Jersey to receive Energy Star status 2013.

“Everything went smoothly, efficiently, and professionally, from the beginning of the project to the end. With the help of GreenLight, we have been able to continue our downward slope in energy usage while integrating more and more technology to meet the needs of 21st century students in an early 20th century building.”
