Industrial Tire Recycling Facility

Rubberecycle

1985 Rutgers University Blvd.
Lakewood, NJ 08701

Project Description
Rubberecycle the second largest recycler of rubber tires in the United States. Their industrial facility manages the recycling and reprocessing of used rubber tires into usable products such as playground matting and garden mulch. Their Lakewood, NJ facility is dependent on high quality high intensity discharge (HID) lighting to ensure the highest quality and safety standards.
GreenLight worked with Rubberecyle to replace their existing HID Metal Halide fixtures with advanced LED fixtures that increased the light output of their operational spaces while dramatically cutting their energy use. Occupancy sensors were installed to ensure that lighting fixtures were off when works spaces were unoccupied, which was a source of additional savings. GreenLight obtained rebates from the local incentive programs to fund a significant portion of the project cost in order. The rebates combined with the energy savings enabled the project to have a return on investment in less than 1 year.
